Recognize and Report: Child Care Providers Have the Power to Prevent Child Abuse – Survey Results
The following survey results detail the opinions of child care providers on training to recognize and report signs of child abuse and neglect. This survey was conducted in 2015 and represents responses from 178 child care providers across the state of California.
- The overwhelming majority of child care providers think a training on recognizing and reporting child abuse would be useful and should be required.
- 50% of child care providers report that not knowing how to report child abuse is a difficulty in reporting suspected abuse.
- 60% of child care providers don’t know the definition of “child abuse” or “child neglect.”
